While walking the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet the other day we viewed several Humpback whales just off the shore. We saw numerous blows north and south of us along the coast. We were also lucky enough to see several whale flukes and one spectacular breach. The Wild Pacific Trail always has great scenery and occasional wildlife viewings including seals, sea lions, otters, eagles, and sometimes whales. The bigger swells in the fall, winter and spring also make for great storm watching. The Wild Pacific Trail is a short walk from Norah House Retreat down a paved walking path. Once you get to Big Beach picnic area you can follow the trail 3.9 kms north along the coast. There is also a seperate loop of the Wild Pacific Trail around the Amphitrite point lighthouse. We highly recommend you check out this trail on your trip to the Ucluelet, Long Beach and Tofino area! Tim and Rachael
